Montgomery County Creates New Office of Food Systems Resilience
While many of us were enjoying a relaxing summer vacation, the Montgomery County Council approved a bill to establish a new Office of Food Systems Resilience, which will advise the Council and County Executive on policies related to food systems. This new office will also become a partner of food assistance providers and other stakeholders throughout the county, including Manna Food Center and its Community Food Rescue program.
The expansive network of non-profit organizations that distribute food, nutrition educators, food businesses, and environmental advocates will also benefit from its work. “We’re very pleased this new office has been established to help create and coordinate various county food-related activities, administer grants, and shape policies that will promote food security,” says CEO Jackie DeCarlo, of Manna Food Center.
The position of Manager II, Office of Food Systems Resilience, is now open for applicants. For more information about the position and to apply, click HERE. The application deadline is October 13th. The Bethesda Beat first reported this new Office in July. Read more about it in their July 12th edition.
